Mabel's BBQ on East 4th Street opened in April of 2016. Inspired by the Eastern European heritage of Cleveland, we aimed to create a style that of BBQ Clevelanders can call their own by incorporating Bertman’s Ballpark Mustard into the barbecue sauce and smoking meat over local fruitwood.
The space’s arched ceilings, industrial lighting and exposed brick are reminiscent of Cleveland landmark West Side Market, evoking the feeling of a rustic smokehouse with a laid back vibe. The deep green bar is reminiscent of a Coleman cooler, and a large neon sign reading “EAT MORE MEAT” is a focal point of the bi-level restaurant. Friends can kick back at communal picnic tables and feast on brisket, kielbasa, pork ribs, and a variety of eastern European inspired sides, coupled with locally made Cleveland kraut and pickles.
